Lin-gang Special Area handles over 430,000 New Year visitors
The Lin-gang Special Area in East China's Shanghai reported a significant surge in tourism during the three-day New Year holiday – running from Dec 30, 2023, to Jan 1, 2024.
By 9 pm on Jan 1, a total of 437,309 visitors had been recorded, marking a 96.33 percent increase compared with the previous year.
The scenic spots in Lin-gang attracted 81,142 visitors – soaring 345.79 percent year-on-year. What's more, the main urban district's public areas also saw a notable increase, attracting 356,167 visitors, representing a 74.13 percent gain.
Hotel occupancy rates on New Year's Eve also boomed, with 45 establishments experiencing a peak rate of 74.1 percent. More than 10 hotels achieved full occupancy, contributing to an overall three-day average gain of 53 percent.
Throughout the three-day break, around 360,000 people enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere around Dishi Lake's 80-meter scenic belt, which offered a heady mix of commerce, culture, sports, and tourism. All in all, Lin-gang emerged as a premier holiday destination, setting a new standard for New Year celebrations with its impressive surge in tourist numbers.
