Shanghai took a monumental step towards enhancing its residents' quality of life with the unveiling of the city's first high-quality drinking water demonstration community in Lin-gang Special Area on June 24.
This pioneering initiative not only signifies an advancement in providing top-tier water supply services to local inhabitants, but also sets a precedent for broader implementation across the city.
At the forefront of this project is Shanghai Chengtou Group, a stalwart in championing high-quality drinking water initiatives across the city. Four years ago, the company established Chengtou Xingang, a subsidiary that is dedicated to contributing to the development of Lin-gang Special Area.
Under the Water Steward initiative, Chengtou has spearheaded the construction of 29 new residential communities that are equipped with high-quality drinking water services, covering a sprawling area of 3.87 million square meters. The company's efforts have led to the near-complete digitization of the secondary water supply system in Lin-gang, a pivotal contribution to the enhancement of the area's water supply and drainage infrastructure.
One standout success story is the Creative Apartment community in the area, which has consistently met stringent water quality standards for five consecutive months. This remarkable achievement has earned the community the title of being a high-quality drinking water demonstration site, a first-of-its-kind accolade in Shanghai.
Building upon the success of the Creative Apartment, Chengtou has set ambitious targets for the future. The company aims to achieve comprehensive coverage of high-quality water services in the area surrounding Dishui Lake in Lin-gang Special Area by 2025. Looking further ahead, Chengtou envisions establishing a safe, high-quality, low-carbon, and highly efficient water supply system by 2035, solidifying its commitment to innovation and sustainability in water management.
