On June 22, the Lin-gang Medical Device Innovation Center celebrated its official inauguration, heralding a new era of healthcare technology advancement in the region. The center's launch was marked by the signing of collaborative agreements with international entities from Canada, Belarus, and Uzbekistan, laying the groundwork for extensive global partnerships.

Functioning as a comprehensive and open innovation platform within the medical technology sector, the center is dedicated to facilitating technology transfer, nurturing talent, and fostering international collaborations by bridging connections between universities, medical schools, and hospitals.

In response to the evolving demands of the industry, the center will establish a training base focused on advanced medical technologies and innovative devices. Through partnerships with leading hospitals and medical device companies, the center will offer training programs and develop a practical training facility for medical staff to operate cutting-edge medical devices. In order to ensure its success, the center will be supported by relevant State ministries and departments.

Beyond regional boundaries, the center has ambitious plans to create a global network of branches, with Lin-gang positioned as the central hub. This strategic move aims to attract top-tier medical technology innovation projects and professionals from around the world while also showcasing Chinese medical device products and companies on the global stage.

Professor Cheng Yunzhang from the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology was appointed as the center's director. The center’s expert committee comprises distinguished medical professionals and administrators from leading hospitals in China, along with senior figures from universities and medical schools spanning 13 countries, including Russia, Canada, and Thailand.

Concurrently with the center's launch, plans for the 2024 MDinno Shanghai (International) High-end Medical Device Innovation Competition were announced. Scheduled to run from June to September, the competition aims to identify and support promising medical device projects from both domestic and international sources, further solidifying Lin-gang's position as a global hub for cutting-edge medical technology innovation and collaboration.
