Shanghai announced its 2024 top 100 foreign-invested enterprises (FIEs) on Nov 12, with 265 enterprises making up the list covering four indexes — sales revenue, import & export value, tax contribution, and job creation.

Lin-gang Special Area has nine resident companies on the list, up from last year's five, including Tesla, Caterpillar, Maersk, and more. Tesla stole the spotlight, among the top 10 FIEs in terms of the aforementioned four indexes.

In the first nine months this year, 4,764 foreign-invested enterprises were established in Shanghai, marking a 5.5 percent year-on-year increase. The actually utilized foreign capital was valued at $12 billion.

Moving forward, Shanghai will continue to create a more top-tier business environment and provide more considerable services for multinational corporations in the city, and be committed to advancing the high-level institutional openness of the free trade zone.
