The record was driven by the port's continuously improving navigation efficiency, supported by its four-doubles operating model — double-row berthing, two-way navigation, double-berthing operations, and double-window departures — as well as its mature berth practice. This allows six large container ships to berth and depart simultaneously within limited shoreline space.

In January, the port completed 342 double-berthing operations, 50 double-window departures, 77 two-way navigation operations, and 114 triple-berthing operations. The trend toward larger vessels also boosted throughput, with 133 ultra-large container ships of 18,000 twenty-foot equivalent units or more calling at the port.

Despite seven bouts of severe weather during the month, the Yangshan Maritime Safety Administration leveraged its intelligent monitoring system to implement graded traffic control measures. Thanks to the flexible regulation, large container vessels continued to operate without disruption.
