A conference on boosting the construction of a sci-tech innovation hub in Shanghai's Lin-gang Special Area was held on Aug 21.

The initiative aims to develop Lin-gang into a platform for scientific and technological achievements commercialization, a gathering spot for emerging industries, a testing ground for new business formats and models, and an ideal destination for youth startups.

By 2030, Lin-gang plans to complete and put into use at least 10 world-class laboratories and major scientific facilities, foster several future-oriented industrial clusters each worth tens of billions of yuan, and attract more than 100,000 innovative and entrepreneurial professionals — all to drive high-quality development of Lin-gang and help build Shanghai into a global science and technology innovation hub.

A group of partners for the construction of Lin-gang sci-tech innovation city was announced, including renowned universities and colleges, scientific research institutions, financial organizations, and incubators.

Lingang Group launched a work plan to support youth startups at the meeting, featuring low operating costs and an innovative ecosystem.
